Elevated summer temperatures ask for cool refreshment in any form. One of them, a very popular one, is to visit swimming pools and other water bodies suitable for swimming. In Bratislava and its surroundings you have a choice of swimming possibilities and it is up to you whether you prefer swimming pools, swimming pools, gravel pits or lakes. Almost every city district of Bratislava is characterized by swimming pools of different sizes and with a different range of services offered. In Petržalka is open summer swimming pool Matadorka, all year round is available Petržalská swimming pool. The largest housing estate in Slovakia attracts also the natural swimming pool Veľký Draždiak sought after not only by people but also by birds. Swans, ducks or other waterfowl, for which Big Drazdiak is home in every season, will welcome a piece of dry bread - so if you go there, be sure to pack it up. On the other side of the Danube is the Old Town, where we recommend a walk to Slavin, a memorial to Soviet soldiers killed during World War II. And just one last tip - recreation area Nové Košariská near the village Dunajská Lužná is a little further from the capital, but in return for the journey it offers clear water and the feeling of being on vacation.
