Many Slovaks are leaving to live abroad. On the other hand, many foreigners live in Slovakia. We tried to transform the Slovak eagerness of attributing mistakes to others to the mirror setting by us - Slovaks. Before we get the opinion of foreigners, what they think about our capital, we did a little research on how foreigners perceive the Slovaks as a whole.
We have learned nothing many times. But there were also some of whose answers we could summarize a few facts that we will share with you:
In the beginning, Slovaks seem to be very closed to foreigners, but when ice breaks, they can be very loyal friends to life and death. For some, Slovaks seem friendly and hospitable.
The family is a very important place for Slovaks, people help each other, from little things to building a house.
The second group of respondents also see the bad side of this aspect, namely the interference of the family in decision making, which is undesirable and sometimes annoying.
A very interesting point is that Slovaks and Slovaks need instructions. We are waiting for instructions to do something. Sometimes we are more worried than we need.
Bureaucracy. Nothing needs to be added to this point.
How do foreigners perceive Slovakia?
Cheap beer and its big appetite.
Slovak cuisine is tasty, but not too fresh.
They envy us beautiful nature, mountains and fairytale castles and chateaux.
Slovak language is difficult but nicely sounding.
Although the capital is picturesque in the center, there are not many pretty neighborhoods on the outskirts. Accommodation in Bratislava in the Old Town can therefore have many advantages.
It is rather the exception that the staff knows English. Of course in the capital it is a bit different, but Slovaks still have big gaps in this most widespread business language.
Many foreigners cannot get used to racist allusions, xenophobia, unwillingness and selfishness of our nature.
The opinion of Slovak agility, dexterity and the desire to fight in the world has expanded thanks to the people who went abroad to work and got to the highest places.
